 | Lefthanded-batting jack of all trades was received straight up from the Mariners for Floyd Bannister in December of 1978 became an All Star in his first season as an Astro despite having an OPS+ of 75. Served as the team's starting shortstop until Dickie Thon won the job in 1982, then got the job back in 1984 when Thon was out because of the Torrez beaning. Featured in a classic lefthand/righthand platoon with Thon in '85 and '86, then had the short job to his lonesome again in 1987 after Thon had been traded to the Angels. The trade for Rafael Ramirez turned Reynolds into a utility player for his last two seasons with the club. | One of only eight pitchers (and one of only five homegrown) to have won 100 games in an Astros uniform had uncanny control of his split finger and a predeliction for the long ball. Five-time Opening Day starter and an All-Star in 2000. Reynolds was surprised to say the least when he was cut at the end of Spring Training '03, but Atlanta and Arizona both concurred that Mr. Reynolds was in fact done | |
