CARDS I HAVE PLAYER POSITION REMARKS
4 Kevin Hagen Cards Pitcher
Long-time minor league veteran won ten or more games four times at three different levels; spent parts of 1987 and all of 1988 with the Toros
1 Camron Hahn Card Catcher
Second round pick in the June 1997 draft never got past Martinsville, due to injuries
11 Dave Hajek Cards
2nd Base

1990 Sally League All-Star rose to Tucson by '94 and got serious consideration in 1996 for the third base spot previously held by the departed Dave Magadan. The cold reality is that Hajek was 3 for 12 in 13 games with three runs scored over the '95 and '96 seasons. Went 2 fvor 3 with a double, 2 RBI and a run scored in Mark Petkovsek's no-hitter on May 16, 1994.
17 John Halama Cards
Pitcher

On October 1, 1998, became the Player to be Named Later in the Randy Johnson trade. Up and down with the Mariners, but did pitch a perfect game in the PCL--not by any means an easy thing to do.
1 AdamHale Card Pitcher
32nd round draft pick pitched at Greeneville in 2006
1 Chad Hale Card Pitcher
Pitched for the River Bandits in 1997 following his acquisition from the Red Sox organization. After that--who knows?
3 Josh Halemanu Cards 1st Base
Honolulu native was a long way from home with the Auburn Astros in 1994 and 1995
4 Billy Hall Cards Pitcher
1995 Midwest League All-Star was hurt in '96 and never recovered
1 Marty Hall Card Pitcher
Pitched at Asheville in 1997
3 Bryan Hallberg Cards Pitcher
Righthander inished tenth in ERA (2.44) in the 2006 New York-Penn League. The only member of the 2006 ValleyCats to be on the Opening Day roster for the '07 version. Got a promotion to Lexington in August.
2 Robert Hallgren Cards Outfield
Spent '76 with Covington and Dubuque; topped out in '77 with Cocoa, before moving on to the Rangers' organization.
10 Mark Hamilton Cards Infield/
Outfield/
Pitcher
In his short career in the Astros organization, this TCU grad has played infield at Martinsville in 2000, played the Outfield at Michigan in 2001, pitched at Michigan the same year, pitched at Tri-City and Michigan in 2002, and pitched at Salem and Lexington in 2003. Results at all positions so far have been mixed, although Topps is certainly all over him, and he was a Midwest League All-Star in 2001
1 Ryan Hamilton Card Pitcher
12th round pick in the June 2000 draft: one short season at Martinsville, then goodbye . . .
2 Anthony Hampton Cards Outfield
Looks like he missed the card shoot and had to come back that night
2 Mark Hampton Cards Pitcher
Gave it a whirl at Auburn in 1990
 91  Mike Hampton Cards
 Pitcher

Bulldog hit .311 AND won 22 in 99; becoming the first guy since Bob Gibson in 1970 to win 20 and hit over .300. This season as I'll argue, was an aberration almost as wild as Mark Whiten (lifetime .259) hitting 4 homers and driving in 12 RBI in a single game.
2 Tim Hamulack Cards Pitcher
Lefty pitched well at three stops between 1997 and 1999, leading Michigan in ERA for 1999. What'd we do, trade him away?
1 James Hand Card Nice Old Man
Included without explanation in the 1982 TCMA Tucson Toros set
3 Ron Hanisch Cards Trainer
Medicine Man for the '91 - '93 Asheville Tourists
1 Devern Hansack Card Pitcher
Righthander from Pearl Lagoon, Nicaragua had a 2.18 to 1 K/BB ratio for Tri-City in 2002 and a 1.65 ratio for Lexington in 2003
2 Carroll Hardy Cards
Outfield
Played halfback for the 1955 San Francisco '49ers, bounced around the majors for a while, then hit .194 for the 1963-64 Colts. Pepsi included him in their 1963 set.
3 Larry Hardy Cards
Pitcher/Coach
Acquired with Joe McIntosh in the trade that sent Doug Rader packing to San Diego, Hardy pitched in 15 games at Houston in '76 and got an SSPC for his trouble. By '78, he was doing more coaching than pitching at AAA Charleston
2 Don Harkness Cards Infield
Pitched for two really bad Florida State league affiliates in '77 and '78, at Cocoa in '77 under Jimmy Johnson and at Daytona in '78 under Leo Posada
7 Al Harley Cards 2nd Base
Once misidentified as Jim Dougherty

PETE HARNISCH Cards

Pitcher
Two great and two slightly less than average seasons for the Astros. Later screwed by the Mets and chewing tobaccco both.
3 Mark Harrington Cards GM
Went from head Groundskeeper to Assistant GM to GM for the Auburn Astros between 1994 and 1996
2 Lum Harris Cards
Manager
70 - 105 as skipper of the Houston club in 1964 and 1965; Harris is thus last on any list of Houston managers ranked by winning percentage, and second to last on any list ranked by wins (in front of only interim one-game-winner Salty Parker).
1 Reggie Harris Card Pitcher
Played professional football for the Seattle Seahawks, in the majors for the Phillies, and in 1998 for the New Orleans Zephyrs
13 Rusty Harris Cards Infield/Coach
Debuted at Auburn in 1987, and actually hit .294 during a partial season at AAA Tucson in 1990. Never hit higher than .264 otherwise, and his last playing year was 1992 for the Jackson Generals. Coached in 1994 at Auburn and 1996 at Jackson. . .
3 CHUCK HARRISON Cards
1st Base
Even though the back of his 1967 Topps # 8 says different, Opening Day in 1966; hit .248 in three years for the Astros.

3 Billy Hart Card 1st Base
Fifth round draft pick only played ten games at Tri-city that summer due to injury, but did well in the limited action, hitting .282 with a .364 OBP. Edged Salem Avalanche teammate Mitch Einertson for the 2007 Carolina League batting title, hitting .305405 to Einertson's .304933.
1 Andy Harter Card 1st Base
Free agent played 1988 at Asheville
17 Dean Hartgraves Cards
Pitcher
Threw a 7-inning no-hitter for the Asheville Tourists on his 22nd birthday, August 12, 1988, then threw another six-inning jewel for the Osceola Astros one year, nine days later. He thus became, with Juan Quintana and Don Wilson, one of only three players in organizational history to throw two no-hitters while toiling for the franchise.
Made his major league debut at the age of 29 years 254 days, and won his first major league game only six days shy of his 30th birthday. 2 - 0 with a 3.91 in his 59-game stint with Houston in 1995 and 1996, before being left on waivers and claimed by the Braves in July of '96.
2 JC Hartman Cards
Infield
In 1955, at the age of 21, was a teammate of Satchel Paige on the Kansas City Monarchs. Played 1961 for the AA Houston Buffaloes, then after starting 1962 at AAA Oklahoma City, was called up to the major league Houston club July 21, 1962.
Looks like he did the same thing in 1963, started at AAA Oklahoma City, then got called up to Houston. Always
claimed to make more money selling teammates haircuts than playing baseball. . .
4 Bill Hartnett Cards Pitcher
Eighth round selection in the 1993 draft played at Auburn in 1993 and at Osceola in 1994
1 Bob Hartsfield Card Manager
Manager of each Auburn Astro team between the time of baseball's return to Cayuga County in 1982 and 1985 would become a scout, and sign Earl Cash, Nelson Rood, Rob Parker, and Calvin James.

2 Michael Hasley Cards Pitcher
Spent '74 and part of '75 at Covington, spent parts of '75 and '76 at Dubuque
37 BILLY HATCHER Cards
Outfield
Opening Day 87 - 89, but what's really important here is that he hit the biggest home run in Houston history, his 14th inning solo shot off Jesse Orosco, that tied the sixth game of the '86 NLCS at 4, and assured that the 16-inning affair would be remembered as one of the greatest games ever.
17 Chris Hatcher Cards Pitcher
1991 Midwest League All-Star (and MVP of the midseason game) had reached AAA Tucson by 1994, but could advance no further. Good power, with 70 home runs and 20 triples through 95, but four seasons with more strikeouts than games? Ya gotta make him a . .067 average for the 1998 Royals in 15 At Bats and 8 games.
5 Grady Hatton Cards
Manager
His success at AAA Oklahoma City--two league titles in three years--got him a Minor League Manager of the Year award in 1965, and a promotion to Houston, but after a good first year showing for the 'Stros in 1966, did not translate to further success.
1 Chris Hawkins Card Pitcher
Left-handed pitcher gave it a whirl for Auburn in 1987
2 Dustin Hawkins Card Outfield
37th Round Pick from Ogden, Utah hit .288 at Martinsville in 2002, and .188 at Lexington the following year
1 Rick Haynes Card Infield
Hit .265 at Covington in '74 and got the promotion to Dubuque for '75 - where he flunked out, with a .200 average and only six RBIs.

He
CARDS I HAVE PLAYER POSITION REMARKS
2 Beau Hearod Cards Outfield
Hit .228 but hit five homers in his debut for the 2003 Tri-City Valleycats; led the Lexington Legends a year later with 25, AND bumped his average up, too.
3 Bill Heath Cards
Catcher
Acquired for a couple minor leaguers along with Dave Nicholson, Heath was the 'Stros primary backup catcher to John Bateman in 1966. I guess the 'Stros realized that there wasn't exactly a shortage in the organization of backup catchers, what with Hal King, Ron Brand, and Dave Adlesh, so in May of '67 they sent Heath to Detroit for cash.
13 Jeff Heathcock Cards
Pitcher
Right-handed reliever was used by Houston in '83, '85, '87 and '88. Gave up 9 home runs in 56 innings in '85, but still somehow kept the ERA to a respectable 3.36. Had a 5.00 + ERA at both Tucson and Houston in '88. What happened, Jeff? Owner of a lifetime .029 batting average in the majors.
2 Brian Hecht Cards Pitcher
Sidearmer was real good at Auburn AND Quad City in '97
7 Danny Heep Cards
1st Base
Co-MVP (with Alan Knicely) of the 1979 Southern League. Led the 1980 PCL in hitting with a .343 and won the league MVP that year all by hisself (though '80 teammate Knicely had 30+ more RBI). Got traded to the Mets for Mike Scott, then was Nolan Ryan's 4000th strikeout victim.
2 Al Heist Cards
Outfield
Fifth pick in the regular phase of the '61 expansion draft played 27 games for the '62 Colts, with only one extra base hit, but was playing through '65 with AAA Oklahoma City, where he accumulated 109 RBIs.
2 Aaron Heitzman Cards Pitcher
Led the 2003 Lexington Legends in innings pitched
9 TOMMY HELMS Cards
2nd Base
AAACK!! The Morgan trade!
'66 ROY for the Reds was Opening Day starter for the Astros 1972 - 1974; Traded to Pittsburgh for a 29-year old Art Howe.
6 Jon Helquist Cards Shortstop
Two minor-league all-star appearances for '99 Martinsville and 2001 Michigan.
1 Keith Helton Card Pitcher
Signed as a five year minor league free agent, and umm, pitched in at Jackson in 1992
4 David Henderson Cards 2nd Base
Astros' third pick in the June, 1987 draft got plenty of chances, and was overmatched, everywhere he went, most notably at Osceola in 1990, where he hit .184 in 86 games
2 Steve Henderson Cards
Outfield
Pretty good player over a 1000-game (and 976-hit) major league career; just not, unfortunately, for the 1988 Astros
6 Mike Henneman Cards
Relief Pitcher
All-time Tiger leader in saves was contemplating retirement by the time the 'Stros got him, and managed just 8 saves and 21 innings pitched in 1995.
16 Randy Hennis Cards
Pitcher
First and only major league start (as well as third and last major league appearance) came in the last game of the season October 3, 1990. Gave up only one hit (a sixth-inning double to Ron Oester) and no runs. Was removed after the sixth with the Astros leading 2 - 0. Then Juan Agosto betrayed Hennis by giving up two, thus setting up Dave Smith for his 53rd and final major league win. Hennis was left with a 0.00 ERA in 9-2/3 innings for his major league career. A little like Cameron Drew in that you gotta wonder whatever happened to Hennis. I mean, he spent the following year at Tucson, but the '91 Astros--young, talented, and a certainty to finish last--couldn't give Hennis a shot? And why wasn't he back for '92? Oh well, at least Hennis became part of a board game.
5 Oscar Henriquez Cards
Pitcher
Traded with RHP Manuel Barrios and (eventually) RHP Mark Johnson to the Florida Marlins for OF Moises Alou on November 11, 1997. Henriquez had pitched in four games with a 4.50 ERA before the trade, and pitched in 15 games with an 8.55 for the Marlins in '98. I know Dave Dombrowski kinda had his hands tied behind his back, but the thing is, Oscar didn't even have good numbers in the minors . . .
5 Ralph Henriquez Cards Catcher
Number Two pick in the June 2005 amateur draft out of Key West High began at Greeneville, but struggled some with the bat. Repeated in 2006, and struggled some more. Received a promotion to Lexington for '07, and struggled yet again
24 Butch Henry Cards
Pitcher
Inside the Park HR (!) vs Pirates 5/8/92. I will always remember a game Henry pitched April 19, 1992 vs. the Padres at home. Andy Benes (and he was real good, back then--he'd end the year with a 3.35 ERA) started for the Pads, and threw nine innings of shutout ball. But here's the thing: so did Henry. No-one then (or now) would put Butch Henry in the class of Andy Benes, but on that day, Henry would not yield. Benes gave up five hits and walked one, while Henry gave up seven hits and walked none. I seem to remember Henry being in trouble all day long, but he always worked out of it. The game went into extras tied at 0. Finally both managers pinch hit for their starters, and Xavier Hernandez ended up getting the decision over Rich Rodriguez as the Astros won 1 - 0 in 11. Henry would pitch in the majors til '99, but I would think that game was his finest hour.
2 Carlos Henry Cards Infield/Oufield
Hit .097 for the Gulf Coast Astros in 1986, yet somehow managed to play until '89, when he maxed out at Asheville
6 Doug Henry Cards
Relief Pitcher
Actually rather effective at times, especially during the 1998 season, when he picked up eight wins and had a 3.04 ERA, Henry had become, by the time was traded to the Giants for triple-A caliber pitcher Scott Linebrink in July of 2000, notable almost exclusively for his firestarting properties.
11 Dwayne Henry Cards
Relief Pitcher
Middle reliever for the 1991 club was fast but straight. Got the win for pitching the 12th and 13th innings of Darryl Kile's first start April 24, 1991.
1 Russ Herbert Card Pitcher
Pitched 2000 at Round Rock
1 Geysi Heredia Card Pitcher
5 - 1 with a 1.25 for the 1984 Gulf Coast Astros; got as high as the FSL Osceola squad in 1986.
17 Carlos Hernandez Cards 2nd Base/Shortstop
Quad City/Jackson/New Orleans player 95-00 was traded to Seattle for Carlos Maldonado on March 21 of 2000. After the trade, Hernandez took the edge in major league games played, 2 - 0.
58 Carlos Hernandez Cards
Pitcher
17-2/3 scoreless innings to begin major league career; First loss came in his eleventh ML game. Also pitched a no-hitter in the minors.
2 Fernando Hernandez Cards Pitcher
Starter who led the Cal league in K/IP for 1993, pitched two games for Detroit in 1997, and won twelve games at Monterrey of the Mexican league in 1998, split time between Round Rock and New Orelans in 2000.
1 Hector Hernandez Card Outfield
Looks like Choice sportscards called him 'Hector' and said he was born 9/26/81, while the Greeneville Astros said he was named Jose, and was born 8/22/84. Either way, looks like he hit .264 in 32 games for the 2004 Appalachian League champions.
3 Javier Hernandez Cards Pitcher
Reliever from Humacao, Puerto Rico spent time at Gulf Coast, Asheville, and Osceola between 1990 and 1992.
11 Manny Hernandez Cards
Pitcher
Long minor league career began in the Gulf Coast league at Sarasota in 1979. Spent three years at Daytona Beach, including the '81 FSL championship year, and '83, when Hernandez was 10 - 3 with a 2.99 in 102.0 innings. After two and a half years at Tucson, Houston brought him up in June of 1986; he pitched in 9 games with a 2-3 record and a 3.90 ERA. In '87 he split time again between the PCL and the NL, but the major league ERA ballooned to 5.40. '88 was spent exclusively at Tucson, and at the end of the year he was signed as a minor-league free agent by the Mets. He pitched one inning for New York in 1989 . . .and there the trail ends. That's his story, and this is his one major-league card.
2 Pedro (J.) Hernandez Cards Infield/Outfield
Was an infielder when he played for the '78 Daytona squad, then got traded to Toronto in November of '78 with JJ Cannon and Mark Lemongello for Alan Ashby. Mostly played at AAA Syracuse and AA Knoxville, though he got 9 at bats for Toronto in '79 and '82. No hits, but did score a run. The Astros must've signed him back as a minor league free agent in the offseason after 1984, and he played outfield for the '85 Tucson Toros and Columbus Astros.
49 Xavier Hernandez Cards
Relief Pitcher
X-man--a title or a curse?
1 Hector Herrera Card Infield
1986 at Sarasota (.238-0-2) and 1987 at Auburn (.224-0-11)
3 Ed Herrmann Cards Catcher
All-Star in 1974 for the White Sox caught Dierker's no-hitter--and batted .291 in 56 games in 1977.
2 Steve Hertz Cards
Third Base
Three year-minor leaguer in the mid-60's Houston system went hitless in four at bats for the Colt .45's in 1964, but did score two runs as a pinch runner. He shared the 1964 Topps # 544 with Joe Hoerner, and finally got his own cards in 2003 with the Jewish Major Leaguers set.
1 John Hessler Card Pitcher
Five year minor leaguer pitched a no-hitter for the '77 Gulf Coast club, then got as high as AA Columbus (for whom he appeared on his 1980 baseball card), and compiled a 23 - 29 minor league record

Hi
CARDS I HAVE PLAYER POSITION REMARKS
3 Jack Hiatt Cards
Catcher/Manager
Marginal major leaguer--at least with the bat--played in 79 games for the '71 and '72 big league club and collected 53 hits. Would resurface in the organization again in 1983, when he would manage the Southern League Columbus Astros.
1 Phil Hiatt Card Outfield
Hit his 300th minor league homer for the New Orleans Zephyrs on June 15, 2004
17 Jim Hickey Cards
Pitcher/Coach
"The Iceman" ended an eight-year minor league career with the Columbus Astros in 1989, then began a career as pitching coach that has seen stops at Burlington, Asheville, Jackson, and New Orleans. You had to feel good for Mr. Hickey on July 14, 2004, when he was promoted from AAA New Orleans to replace the fired Bert Hooton as pitching coach of the major league club. But when he was dismissed after the 2006 season, not so much.
2 Ralph Hicks Cards Pitcher
17th round selection of the Astros in the 2000 draft out of Centenary; his 2001 Pittsfield Astros card tells us his nickname is "the Grave-Digger."

RICHARD HIDALGO Cards

Outfield
Go the other way,Richard!
7 Chris Hill Cards Pitcher
Minor-league free agent was 16 - 7 with a 2.93 in the pitcher-friendly FSL for the Osceola Astros in 1992. The 16 was good enough to lead the league, and got him a spot on the All-Star team
24 Mike Hill Cards Outfielder
1999 New-York Penn-League All-Star and August 2000 SAL Player of the Month hit .300 at Michigan in 2000 and at Lexington in 2001. Appears to have left baseball after splitting 2004 between AA Round Rock and AAA New Orleans
1 Drew Himes Card Infield
19th round pick in the June 2005 draft out of Illinois Wesleyan went 3 - 0 with a 6.37 for Tri-City that summer
1 Bob Hinson Card Infield
Pat Doyle and the Old Time Database call him "Bobby Joe," but to the ever-conservative TCMA, he was simply "Bob." Hit .292 for the '82 Auburn Astros with 12 ribbies, then hit .286 with 30 RBI's for Asheville i
