Classic/Best and Upper Deck were all over this 1991 eighth round draft pick, but lack of plate discipline ensured that he would never rise beyond High A ball. Still, check out nine of his twelve cards--you'll be glad you did

REMARKS
3
Modesto De Aza Cards
Outfield
Debuted at Auburn in '99, and played three years of Short Season A ball
2
Bob Dean Cards
Pitcher
Pitcher who makes appearances in my collection for the '73 Cedar Rapids and '75 Dubuque Packers teams joined forces with Paulo De Leon in blanking Danville 6 - 0. When they were done, they found that they'd pitched a combined seven-inning no-hitter. The date was July 25, 1973, and odds are, you weren't there.
6
Kevin Dean Cards
Outfield
Dean, in 1987 named the second-best prospect in the Florida State League by Baseball America, was acquired by the Astros along with pitcher Lee Johnson, in exchange for noted Jetsons fan Charlie Kerfeld on April 29, 1990
2
Louis Deiley Cards
Catcher
One of at least four catchers (Including Biggio, Massarelli, Doug Gonring, and Jeff Edwards) for the 1987 first and second half SAL Northern Division champion Asheville Tourists
8
Ivan De Jesus Cards
Coach/Manager
Shortstop most famous with the Phillies I guess coached a few years at Osceola and Kissimmee, then became minor league infield and baserunning co-ordinator for two years. Most recently, manager at Greeneville in 2006.
1
Jesus De La Rosa
Cards
Outfield
Doubled and scored a run for the '75 big club in three at bats; but those darn 75 Iowa Oaks cards--they don't give a position! I wouldn't know WHAT Jesus did, if it weren't for the fact that he played those three games for Houston and is thus listed in the Media Guide under the All-Time Roster. . .Plus, I can give him the cool icon next door.
4
Joey De Leon
Cards
Pitcher

18th Pick in the 2001 Draft began at Martinsville that year, and led the club in strikeouts. Led the 2003 New York-Penn League in innings, and the that year's Tri-City team in ERA
3
Luis De Leon
Cards
Pitcher
'82 - 84 pitched with the Padres, but by '88 he was at AAA Tucson
3
Paulo De Leon Cards
Pitcher
The cards were short prints, they were in black and black, and the variable sizing might have made them look a little cheesy, but thanks to TCMA, Mr. de Leon's somewhat obscure career HAS been chronicled
2
Pedro De Leon Cards
Pitcher

Proof that not EVERYONE from San Pedro De Macoris became a Hall of Fame shortstop--De Leon spent two years in the low minors as a pitcher
3
Juan Delgado Cards
Infielder
Another member of that '84 Daytona team whose card set is SO very difficult to find
2
Collin Delome
Cards
Pitcher
Outfielder from Lamar University, and 5th-round pick in June 2007, was the highest pick in that ill-fated draft to sign. Went on to finish second on the club in average, and first in slugging.
1
Pedro De Los Santos Card
Shortstop
A Tourist in '88
1
Ramon De Los Santos Card
?

An Astro for 12 games (with no at bats) in '74, and an Oak in '75; any relation to Pedro?
1
Martin DeMerritt Cards
Pitcher
'76 Dubuque Packer
2
Jim DeSapio Cards
Pitcher
'87 and '88 at Auburn
75
Jim De Shaies Cards
Pitcher
King of the throw to first; the Hall of Fame campaign may have been a joke, but the eight strikeouts to start a game definitely wasn't.
2
Anthony DeWitt Cards
Pitcher
6 - 2 with a 4.15 for the 2005 Salem Avalanche
2
Kyle DeYoung
Cards
Pitcher

31st Round pick in '06 gave up a ton of hits at Tri-City in '06, but showed a good K/Bb ratio, so they brought him back in '07, and placed him at Lexington, where he did a bit better.
6
Raymar Diaz Cards
Pitcher
First Diaz in my collection was the 47th Round Pick in the June 2003 draft, and dominated at Martinsville that year, going 4 - 0 with a 0.90, striking out 29 in 30 innings. Named Tri-City's Pitcher of the Month for August 2004. Led the 2007 High A Salem Avlanche in strikeouts and innings pitched.
2

2
Luis Dominguez
Cards
Infield
Short career at Auburn and Michigan did allow him to go 0 for 3 in Carlos Hernandez' no-hitter for the Michigan BattleCats May 27, 2000
16
Chris Donnels Cards
Infield
When Bagwell hurt his hand in both '93 and '94, each time Donnels started the next game for the Astros at first, and he was thus third on the list behind only Simms and Ward in games played by Astro first basemen not named Jeff Bagwell between 1991 and 2000.

Cards
Shortstop
1
Grant Dorn
Cards
Pitcher
Signed by the Lexington Legends as a minor league free agent August 6, 2001, and spent 2002 with Michigan
83
Octavio Dotel Cards
Pitcher
When Dierker and Hooton finally convinced him it was OK to set up, he started to dominate. Which is good, because if he had kept on sucking like Roger Cedeño, the Mike Hampton deal would've looked worse than it already did. Struck out four hitters in an inning during the Six-Pitcher No-hitter on July 11, 2003 The promotion to closer he got with trade of Wagner went OK but not great, and he was shipped to Oakland in the three-way deal that netted the 2004 club the rental of Carlos Beltran.
30
Jim Dougherty Cards
Relief Pitcher
Submariner dominated at every minor league level, but when given a chance on the Houston roster in '95, his ERA was 4.92, thus reinforcing the anti-submarine bias of most major league pitching coaches. Still, gotta love the '95 Fleer Rookie Sendaway # M-6
8
Chance Douglass
Cards
Pitcher
12th Round Pick of the Astros in the June 2002 Amateur Draft had something of a breakthrough at High A Salem in 2005, when he came home with a 2.90 ERA and a 128/44 K/BB ratio. Led the Texas League champion 2006 Corpus Christi Hooks in innings pitched and had a very respectable 1.24 WHIP. Split 2007 between Corpus and AA Triple A Round Rock; did well with the Hooks, but with the Express, not so much.
6
Troy Dovey
Cards
Pitcher
Real well known in Asheville 88 - 90 and never got further than High A Osceola
8
Cory Doyne
Cards
Pitcher

2001 Appalachian League Top Prospect looks like Schfrank. See?
140
Doug Drabek Cards
Pitcher
Opening Day Starter in 95--got the win, too. Still, all the hype, and not many like Opening Day '95 left a bad taste in many Astros fans mouths
2
Kevin Drake
Cards
Outfield
This close to the Dome, Kevin: Appears to have started his career with a mysterious 61 at-bat stint for AAA Denver in 1974, then moved downward for '74 and '75 with the low minor Cedar Rapids and Dubuque clubs, then climbed back up to AA with the '75, '76 and '77 Columbus squads.
13
Cameron Drew Cards
Outfield
You ever get the feeling that Cameron and Robbie Wine, Jr., James Mouton and Brian Hunter and Orlando Miller get together, have a few brews and talk about their bygone days as being hotshit, can't miss prospects for the 'Stros? Still, as with most minor-league all stars, the limited minor-league all-star cards remain cool
6
Travis Driskill
Cards
Pitcher
Couple years for the Zephyrs in the early 2000's, then a return to the organization with the Express in 2005, 2006, and 2007. Pitched a single scoreless inning with the big club in 2005, and served as Round Rock's closer in 2006, saving 15, when Roberto Giron could not hold onto the job. Led the 2007 Express in saves when Paul Estrada was unable to securely hold down the closer's job. Named to the 2007 PCL All-Star team.
2
Keith Drumright
Cards
Infield
Acquired by the 'Stros in exchange for former Cedar Rapid Astro and Iowa Oak Al Javier, Keith spent '78 and 79 with the AAA Charlies, and got a .164 call-up for the Stros in '78 after he was done at Charleston
1
Greg Dube
Cards
Pitcher
Part of that ultra-rare '85 Osceola team issue set
14
Brandon Duckworth
Cards
Pitcher
Acquired with Taylor Buchholz and Ezequiel Astacio for the disgruntled Billy Wagner on November 3, 2003. After Jared Fernandez flunked out for the job, it was Duckworth who made two starts in place of the injured Andy Pettitte after Pettitte hurt himself in his first Astro start. Duckworth won the second start for his first Astro victory, getting the decision in 4/23/04 win over the Rockies at Denver
. From there it was all downhill for Duckworth, and when he was let go in December 2005, he head compiled a 1- 3 record with the Astros, that and an 8.08 ERA
5
Jim Duffy
Cards
Outfield
As high as AA Jackson in 1999
2
Sean Duncan
Cards
Pitcher

Journeyman minor leaguer spent a year at Quad City and another at Kissimmee before (I guess) moving on
2
Ryan Dunn
Cards
Outfield
2 years as a Doubleday and then back to TCU and his Speech Communications degree
1
Steve Dunnegan
Cards
Pitcher
![]()
The guy they got for mega-flop Dave W Roberts after the embarassment to the Astro brass became too great to keep him around any longer. To show Roberts' value, Dunnegan's high water mark was at single A Daytona in '82
3
Rick Dunnum
Cards
Pitcher
Low minors 88 - 90
3
Don Dunster
Cards
Pitcher
A neat 2.50 ERA and a 7-4 record at Osceola through the breakin 1987 meant a promotion to Columbus for Mr. Dunster, but did not portend anything greater
1
Jose Duran
Card
Pitcher
2006 DSL Astros MVP was 1 - 0 with 4.95 at Greeneville in 2007
1

Quebecois spent '85 in the Smokies and '86 in Central Florida. I'd guess he drove badly, too
