28th Round Selection of the Astros in the June '02 Draft hit .221 at Martinsville that year. Invited back for 2003, he responded with a .331 average, and was named team MVP. This got him a bunch of major league rookie and prospect card appearances in 2004, but a series of promotions did not go well. Received a promotion to AAA Round Rock during the 2007 season, but was later released.

Pitcher who makes appearances in my collection for the '73 Cedar Rapids and '75 Dubuque Packers teams joined forces with Paulo De Leon in blanking Danville 6 - 0. When they were done, they found that they'd pitched a combined seven-inning no-hitter. The date was July 25, 1973, and odds are, you weren't there.

Dean, in 1987 named the second-best prospect in the Florida State League by Baseball America, was acquired by the Astros along with pitcher Lee Johnson, in exchange for noted Jetsons fan Charlie Kerfeld on April 29, 1990

Shortstop most famous with the Phillies I guess coached a few years at Osceola and Kissimmee, then became minor league infield and baserunning co-ordinator for two years. Most recently, manager at Greeneville in 2006.

I wouldn't know WHAT Jesus did, if it weren't for the fact that he played those three games for Houston and is thus listed in the Media Guide under the All-Time Roster. . .Plus, I can give him the cool icon next door.

First Diaz in my collection was the 47th Round Pick in the June 2003 draft, and dominated at Martinsville that year, going 4 - 0 with a 0.90, striking out 29 in 30 innings. Named Tri-City's Pitcher of the Month for August 2004. Led the 2007 High A Salem Avlanche in strikeouts and innings pitched.

Graduate of the University of South Carolina at Spartanburg was already aged 23 years 3 months when drafted in the 21st round in June of 1987.

Which is good, because if he had kept on sucking like Roger Cedeño, the Mike Hampton deal would've looked worse than it already did. Struck out four hitters in an inning during the Six-Pitcher No-hitter on July 11, 2003 The promotion to closer he got with trade of Wagner went OK but not great, and he was shipped to Oakland in the three-way deal that netted the 2004 club the rental of Carlos Beltran.

Submariner dominated at every minor league level, but when given a chance on the Houston roster in '95, his ERA was 4.92, thus reinforcing the anti-submarine bias of most major league pitching coaches. Still, gotta love the '95 Fleer Rookie Sendaway # M-6

12th Round Pick of the Astros in the June 2002 Amateur Draft had something of a breakthrough at High A Salem in 2005, when he came home with a 2.90 ERA and a 128/44 K/BB ratio. Led the Texas League champion 2006 Corpus Christi Hooks in innings pitched and had a very respectable 1.24 WHIP. Split 2007 between Corpus and AA Triple A Round Rock; did well with the Hooks, but with the Express, not so much.

This close to the Dome, Kevin: Appears to have started his career with a mysterious 61 at-bat stint for AAA Denver in 1974, then moved downward for '74 and '75 with the low minor Cedar Rapids and Dubuque clubs, then climbed back up to AA with the '75, '76 and '77 Columbus squads.

Couple years for the Zephyrs in the early 2000's, then a return to the organization with the Express in 2005, 2006, and 2007. Pitched a single scoreless inning with the big club in 2005, and served as Round Rock's closer in 2006, saving 15, when Roberto Giron could not hold onto the job. Led the 2007 Express in saves when Paul Estrada was unable to securely hold down the closer's job. Named to the 2007 PCL All-Star team.

Acquired by the 'Stros in exchange for former Cedar Rapid Astro and Iowa Oak Al Javier, Keith spent '78 and 79 with the AAA Charlies, and got a .164 call-up for the Stros in '78 after he was done at Charleston

14 Brandon Duckworth Cards Pitcher
Acquired with Taylor Buchholz and Ezequiel Astacio for the disgruntled Billy Wagner on November 3, 2003. After Jared Fernandez flunked out for the job, it was Duckworth who made two starts in place of the injured Andy Pettitte after Pettitte hurt himself in his first Astro start. Duckworth won the second start for his first Astro victory, getting the decision in 4/23/04 win over the Rockies at Denver . From there it was all downhill for Duckworth and when he was let go in December 2005, he head compiled a 1- 3 record with the Astros, that and an 8.08 ERA
